President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, according to Zelenskyy's Telegram.
He thanked Germany for the first IRIS air defence system.
“A substantive and productive call with President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier. I am grateful to Germany for the first IRIS air defence system - we must deploy an air shield over Ukraine immediately! We appreciate Germany's willingness to help overcome the consequences of Russian missile terror,” Zelenskyy wrote.
He also informed that preparations for Steinmeier's visit to Ukraine are currently underway.
Steinmeier planned to arrive in Kyiv today, 20 October, but he postponed the visit for security reasons.
