Today, 20 more Warmate attack drones were sent to the front-line units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhaylo Fedorov has said in social media.
According to him, a total of 40 such drones have been purchased.
"In the summer, Oleh Horokhovskyy, monobank and UNITED24 raised UAH 64 million for the Army of Drones. Using these funds, we purchased 40 Warmate kamikaze drones. Half of the Warmate drones were sent to the front line last month. Each of them is already performing combat missions," Fedorov said.
The minister also explained how Warmate drones work.
"Operators mark a point on the map, provide data to the autopilot to strike - and the drone independently hits the target. Both lightly armoured vehicles, as well as air defence systems, electronic warfare and other critical enemy targets are hit by drones," Fedorov added.
Such drones are used by the Polish army and other NATO member states.
In late September, the Lithuanian Defence Ministry signed an agreement with the Polish company WB Group to purchase Warmate kamikaze drones for Ukraine.
