MiG-29 fighters, which Slovakia is ready to transfer to Ukraine, are unlikely to be a decisive factor on the battlefield, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, Yuriy Ihnat, has said on the national telethon, RBC-Ukraine reports.
"We are talking about nine planes, it appears. Will they make a difference there, especially on the battlefield? It is unlikely," Ihnat said.
According to him, Ukraine needs modern aircraft, modern weapons.
"These are the most common aircraft in the world, which have a wide range of weapons. Like HIMARS in artillery," he added.
Bratislava is ready to provide Ukraine with MiG-29 fighters. In the near future, a Ukrainian delegation will arrive in Slovakia to discuss this issue.
Also, on 12 December, a base for the repair of Ukrainian military equipment was opened in Kosice, Slovakia.
