Russian occupiers hit central Kherson on Saturday, 24 December, killing at least five people and wounding 20 more, a deputy head of the presidential office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, has said.

The buildings were damaged.

"People died, buildings were destroyed. The city centre, a day off, many people in the streets. All services are working, we are investigating the consequences," Tymoshenko said.

As a result of another Russian shelling of Kherson on 23 December, in the morning two local residents were killed, houses and other buildings were damaged.

The leadership of the Kherson regional military administration advises Kherson residents to take care of their own safety and evacuate. Some parts of the city remain a zone of increased danger due to constant enemy shelling.

In a later post, he said that 35 were wounded, 16 of them are in serious condition.

At least eight civilians were killed in the shelling, the Kherson regional prosecutor's office said.
