Kyiv stops tram, trolleybus operation

They will be replaced with buses.

Due to power deficit, Kyiv will need to stop the operation of urban electric transport: trams and trolleybuses, mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has warned.

All the cancelled services will be operated by buses.

"To provide transportation of Kyiv residents on the routes where trams and trolleybuses used to run, we have made available 222 buses. This is an additional 38 bus routes to replace trolleybuses and 17 to replace trams. In total, 440 buses are currently operating on 126 bus routes in the city. This is the entire rolling stock of buses in our fleet," Klitschko said.

The mayor added that private carriers also provide transportation. In particular, a total of 846 buses operate on 98 routes.

The subway in Kyiv is working. According to Klitschko, 50 out of 52 stations are open, only Hydropark and Dnipro are closed.
