Russian troops hope to launch another offensive – in the direction of Lyman – along with attacks near Bakhmut and Avdiyivka, the spokesman for the Eastern Group of Troops, Serhiy Cherevatyy, has said on the air of the news telethon, RBC-Ukraine reports.
He noted that eastern Ukraine remains the main theatre of hostilities, where the enemy has concentrated most of its forces. Every day the Russian Federation uses cannon artillery, multiple rocket launchers, tank fire and aviation to hit Ukrainian positions.
"Russian occupiers are trying to advance in three main directions: Bakhmut, Avdiyivka and now they are trying to conduct counter-offensive actions in the Lyman sector. Ukrainian servicemen, under a constant barrage of fire, showing mass heroism, do not allow the enemy to break through our defence and make it sustain systemic losses," Cherevatyy said.
According to him, over 50 Russians were killed and about 80 wounded in the Bakhmut sector alone over the last day.
"The enemy is being systematically destroyed in other sectors as well. As of this morning, according to the General Staff, 620 occupiers were destroyed. In fact, the enemy loses a battalion every day," Cherevatyy noted.
