Sixteen people were killed and 64 injured as a result of Russian strikes on Kherson and the region on 24 December, the head of the Kherson regional military administration, Yaroslav Yanushevych, has said on Telegram.

"Yesterday the Russian army killed 16 people in Kherson Region, including three employees of the State Emergency Service, who died during demining operations in Beryslav District. Another 64 people sustained injuries of varying severity," said Yanushevych.

He added that Russians struck Kherson Region 71 times, firing from artillery, MLRS and mortars. They hit Kherson 41 times, targeting the city centre, industrial buildings, medical institutions, private and apartment buildings.

According to earlier reports, the death toll from the shelling of Kherson on 24 December increased to 10.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the shelling of the central part of Kherson on 24 December was another example of Russian terror against civilians.
