Russians are moving reserves in the Zaporizhzhya direction, but there is no significant reinforcement of the Russian army there yet, the spokesman for the Defence Forces of the Tavriya sector, Yevhen Yerin, has said on the air of the national telethon, Liga reports.
Commenting on the information of the Mariupol mayor's adviser Petro Andriushchenko about the transfer of Russian army reserves to Berdyansk and Melitopol, Yerin said that there is a constant movement of enemy forces in these areas.
"Yes, recently there has been a certain arrival of units, but at the same time some units are being withdrawn, some are being deployed. No significant reinforcement in the Zaporizhzhya sector has been observed so far, but in certain areas the enemy is gathering forces that can be regarded as potentially offensive," Yerin said.
He added that the Russians have not chosen any specific direction or area at the moment, thus they change positions from time to time.
"It is hard to say whether these are demonstration forces or preparations for an offensive," Yerin noted.
According to him, currently Russia shows no intention or capability to try to attack Zaporizhzhya and occupy the regional centre, but small Russian units and sabotage and reconnaissance groups from time to time try to test the strength of the Ukrainian defence.
"All their attempts are localised, the enemy usually withdraws or is destroyed with losses," added the spokesman.
