The state concern Ukroboronprom has announced the launch of serial production of 82-mm mortar shells.
They are manufactured at the facilities of one of the NATO member states.
Ukroboronprom noted that the improved mine is many times better than the standard one.
"The number of deadly fragments recorded during the tests on the target shields and on the target site is 2-2.5 times higher than a standard mine should have. The size and shape of the fragments are also better than standard ones," the company said on its website.
According to the standard, when a regular mine explodes, the number of fragments that should hit a target at a distance of 5 meters should be 198, at a distance of 10 meters - 70, and at a distance of 15 meters - 41. Meanwhile, for the improved ammunition, the figures are 460, 140 and 69 fragments, respectively.
The state concern added that this artillery fragmentation mine is designed to destroy enemy manpower. It is launched from a mortar at a distance of up to 4,500 metres.
