Several main substations were damaged by Russia's massive shelling on 26 January, Volodymyr Kudrytskyy, board chairman of the Ukrenergo power supply company, has said on the air of the telethon.

According to him, the drone attack lasted all night on 26 January and during the day Ukraine's energy infrastructure came under rocket fire.

"Unfortunately, many people were killed. Our colleague was killed, and two more employees of our company were injured," Kudrytskyy said.

He added that the situation in the power system has now stabilized, with the biggest problems remaining only in Odesa Region. "Critical infrastructure has been powered up there, and we are working with regional power distribution companies to start powering consumers," Kudrytskyy said.

"In other regions of the country, the situation has already stabilised, and we have started to cut off power supply according to the schedule. And this is despite the fact that today there was a massive shelling, in particular, several main substations were damaged," he said.
