British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is confident that a prolonged stalemate in the war will benefit Russia. That is why he is accelerating support in close cooperation with allies to give Ukraine the best possible chance of success, according to a statement by Rishi Sunak's spokesman published by The Guardian.
“He said the new strategy would also see greater diplomatic efforts and planning work with the Ukrainian on how to rebuild once the conflict had ended”, the spokesman said after the British cabinet meeting.
He also said that it would not be “practical” for the UK to send its fighter jets to Ukraine.
“The UK’s Typhoon and F35 fighter jets are extremely sophisticated and take months to learn how to fly, given that we believe it is not practical to send those jets into Ukraine,” he explained.
The delivery of Challenger 2 tanks, which will be provided to Ukraine by the UK as part of military aid, is expected by summer.
