The European Union will launch a €25 million humanitarian demining program for the de-occupied territories of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

"We have an agreement that the EU will launch a €25 million humanitarian demining program. This is an important component of our recovery, which will allow us to return normal life to the communities de-occupied from Russian terrorists," Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said after meeting with EU High Representative Josep Borrell on the eve of the Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv.

He also thanked Borrell for his consistent support of Ukraine, for increasing the budget of the European Peace Fund by 2 billion euros, and for the training mission for the Ukrainian military.

The Prime Minister added that Ukraine expects this training mission to be expanded.

Shmyhal also emphasized the importance of continued pressure on Russia's economy and the 10th package of European sanctions, which should include the nuclear sector and the state-owned Rosatom company.

Today, on 2 February, Ursula von der Leyen and Joseph Borrell arrived in Kyiv.
