The European Commission and Poland will soon present an initiative to search for Ukrainian children abducted by the Russian military, reports the European Pravda.

“Kidnapping of Ukrainian children is a big social issue, tragedy and crime…"This is why, in conjunction with Poland, we launch this initiative with the support of the UN agencies. Our goal is to unite the forces in order to collect evidence, find the kidnapped children and prosecute those responsible for these crimes," Spinant said.

Detailed information about the initiative is to be presented in a few days.

According to the Laboratory for Humanitarian Studies at the Yale University School of Public Health, Russia has detained at least 6,000 Ukrainian children (probably many more) in Crimea and Russia for political re-education.

Yuriy Belousov, head of the Department for Combating Crimes in the Context of Armed Conflict of the Prosecutor General's Office, told LB.ua that the occupiers forcibly deported more than 16,000 Ukrainian children to Russia during the war.
