A Russian landing in Transnistria is impossible, as Ukraine will never allow Russian planes to cross its airspace, Nataliya Humenyuk, head of the Joint Press Centre of the Operational Command South, said during a telethon.
"A landing in Transnistria is impossible a priori because it requires crossing the airspace of either NATO countries or Ukraine itself. Who would allow them to do that? The forces that are now concentrated there on the territory of Transnistria are most likely watching with sheer surprise the reports about their capacity (of the Russian groupings - Ed.) that Russian propaganda is spreading. From our side of the border and our position, we understand that our response will be absolutely powerful. Our forces concentrated along the border are adequate to the threat that is hypothetically possible if they make a desperate breakthrough," emphasized Humenyuk.
Moldova has rejected accusations by the Russian Defence Ministry that Ukraine allegedly planned to invade the separatist Moldovan region of Transnistria in a false flag operation.
