On the night of 2 March, the Russian army attacked Zaporizhzhya, hitting a high-rise building, said Anatoliy Kurtev, secretary of the Zaporizhzhya City Council.

"According to preliminary information, a multi-storey residential building in one of the city's districts was destroyed as a result of an enemy air strike," he said.

The details are currently being clarified.

Updated. According to preliminary data, four people were killed, eight were injured, and five more are missing, including a child. Debris and the blast wave damaged other high-rise buildings located nearby, as well as vehicles of local residents, the Zaporizhzhya regional prosecutor's office reported.

Criminal proceedings have been opened over a crime under Article 438 (Violation of the Laws and Customs of War) of the Criminal Code.

Update 06:33. According to the regional State Emergency Service, all emergency and specialized services of the city are working at the scene.

According to the latest data, 9 people have been rescued, including one pregnant woman, and 20 evacuated. Rescuers unblocked 2 dead people from the rubble.

Update 04:58. According to the State Emergency Service, the missile strike resulted in "the destruction of the 5th to 1st floors of a five-story residential building within one entrance."

Before that, the occupiers shelled Zaporizhzhya on 20 February. The city recorded a hit in a field next to private houses, the blast wave damaged a residential building and a car, and there were no casualties.
