In Kherson Region, the Russian military opened fire on people standing in line for humanitarian aid, the Office of the Prosecutor General reports on Telegram.
Under the procedural supervision of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation was initiated in the criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, on 2 March 2023, the Russian armed forces, once again violating the norms of international humanitarian law, shelled the de-occupied territory of Kherson Region.
"According to preliminary data, in Beryslav District, the Russian army attacked with drones civilians who were standing in a queue for humanitarian aid near a school. Nine people were injured in the shelling, including a child. The injured are being provided with qualified medical assistance. Details are being clarified," the statement said.
The shelling also damaged civilian infrastructure. Priority measures are being taken to record the crime committed by the army of the aggressor country.
Updated. The Kherson Regional Military Administration clarified that the shelling took place in the village of Kozatske, Beryslav District, where volunteers of the international organization came to distribute vegetable sets to the locals.
During the unloading of humanitarian aid, the Russian occupiers launched a drone. It dropped explosives on civilians who came to receive the aid. Among the nine victims was a 10th-grade student. The sixteen-year-old received gunshot wounds to the right thigh.
Locals evacuated all the injured in their own vehicles to Beryslavl hospital, where they are now receiving medical care. Four of the wounded are in serious condition, and doctors are fighting for their lives.
