Nine combat engagements took place in the area of Bakhmut, Donetsk Region, over the past day, the spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevatyy, has said on the air of the telethon.

Russian forces suffered significant losses in the Bakhmut sector over the last day, losing 244 killed and 315 wounded.

"The main task of our troops in Bakhmut is to wear down the enemy's combat capability and exhaust its combat potential. Thanks to the massive heroism of our soldiers, conditions are being created for our further offensive," Cherevatyy said.

According to him, the successful actions of Ukrainians soldiers force Russia to use its reserves because it suffers huge losses.

"They are now looking for reserves, even using those they used to keep safe - the core of Wagner PMC members, those who were trained before the war, those who had combat experience in Syria. In addition, the group is being strengthened by involving not only regular troops and artillery, but also aviation," Cherevatyy said.

According to the General Staff, Russian troops continue offensive actions in the Bakhmut sector. They do not stop storming the city of Bakhmut. Ukrainian defenders repelled attacks in the areas of Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka and Bakhmut.
