Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles has approved the country's participation in the EU project of joint purchase of ammunition for Ukraine, Infodefensa.com has reported.
"This initiative, led by the European Defence Agency, will allow member states to replenish their ammunition stocks and continue to supply Ukraine," the statement reads.
Robles signed the agreement after "the necessary administrative formalities", according to the Spanish Defence Ministry.
Thus, Spain joined the first group of 18 countries to sign the agreement. Norway has also joined the community's partners.
It is noted that at the end of last year, the Spanish Defence Ministry decided to create a stock of 5.56 mm ammunition and ordered 7.7 million euros worth of this type of ammunition for rifles and handguns from Nammo Palencia.
