The infrastructure of Avdiyivka, Donetsk Region, has been totally destroyed by Russian shelling. There is not a single surviving building in the town, and the housing stock has been destroyed by 80%, Interfax-Ukraine reports, citing Vitaliy Barabash, head of the Avdiyivka City Military Administration (CMA).
"The infrastructure is completely destroyed - nothing is functioning. The housing stock is more than 80% ruined - nothing can be restored or repaired, only demolished and rebuilt. There is not a single house left standing. Probably not a single building has remained intact since summer. And we had 149 multi-storey buildings and about four thousand detached houses in total," he said in an interview with the agency.
Barabash noted that in winter, the locals who stayed in the town heated their homes with stoves, which "were abundantly provided by volunteers and the state," and fuel for the stoves was purchased with a subvention from the state budget.
Earlier in March, it became known that the town of Popasna no longer exists. Previously, the occupiers had said that it was inexpedient to restore the town they had destroyed, but then they enshrined that decision at the "legislative" level.
