For a counteroffensive, Ukraine needs, first of all, heavy equipment and prepared reserves, Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov told the delegation of the European Union's Political and Security Committee.

He briefed the European partners on the situation at the front and emphasized the professional training of Ukrainian soldiers abroad.

"Thanks to the supply of Western weapons, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are making progress on the battlefield. However, we are preparing for a counteroffensive operation, so Ukraine needs, first of all, heavy equipment and trained reserves. We are interested in training the Ukrainian military at all levels: from individual soldier training to collective training of brigade-level units. I have personally witnessed that Ukrainian defenders have high morale. I can say with confidence that our guys and girls are ready to continue fighting for Ukraine," Reznikov emphasized.

The minister also spoke about the weapons monitoring system provided to Ukraine by the allies. The LOGFAS logistics program, used by all NATO members, is implemented at the Ministry of Defence and allows for monitoring the material movement and technical assistance.

More than 40 representatives of European countries visited Ukraine. Commission President Delphine Pronk said the allies would stand with Ukraine until victory.

Earlier, Reznikov said the Ukrainian offensive could begin in April or May. According to him, it will cover several areas.
