The 440th day of Russia's large-scale armed aggression against Ukraine continues. Over the day, it carried out 20 missile attacks and 30 air strikes, fired about 30 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in its evening update.

Russia launched 17 air-launched cruise missiles, 15 of which were destroyed by Ukraine's air defences, and three more S-300 missiles on Kramatorsk and Kostyantynivka. Civil infrastructure was damaged. The likelihood of missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains high.

Russia continues to focus its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka and Maryinka sectors, where it carried out almost 30 attacks over the day. The fiercest fighting continues for the towns of Bakhmut and Maryinka.

On 8 May, the Russian occupiers began to evacuate preschool and school-age children with their parents, as well as teachers and other public sector employees from the city of Kamyanka-Dniprovska in Zaporizhzhya Region. There were not many volunteers. The evacuation is being carried out to Berdyansk. At the same time, all medical staff of the local hospital have been called to work.

Over the last day, the aviation of the Ukrainian Defence Forces carried out four strikes on the clusters of Russian personnel and military equipment, as well as two strikes on its anti-aircraft missile systems. Missile and artillery units struck two manpower clusters and an electronic warfare station.
