The Ukrainian military continues its defensive operation in the Bakhmut sector and is moving forward in some areas of the frontline, the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Col-Gen Oleksandr Syrskyy, has said on Telegram.
"The defensive operation in the Bakhmut sector continues. Our soldiers are moving forward in some parts of the frontline, and the enemy is losing equipment and manpower. Glory to Ukraine and our heroes!" he wrote.
According to the spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevatyy, Ukrainian soldiers advanced into enemy territory in Bakhmut to a distance of up to 2 km on 12-13 May.
According to British intelligence, Ukrainian forces regained at least a kilometre of territory in Bakhmut after the defeat of units of the Russian 72nd Brigade.
