On the night of 7 June, the water level in the Southern Bug River began to rise sharply, particularly in Mykolayiv.

During the day the water level in Mykolayiv rose by 77 cm, mayor Oleksandr Senkevych on Telegram.

"There is a noticeable rise in water level on the beaches of Namyv, Korabelnyy district, Solyanyy district, in the yacht club, in some areas of Velyka Korenyha, Shyroka Balka," Senkevych added.

He noted that all municipal services are working in an enhanced mode.

"We are making rounds, preparing equipment," the mayor added.

As of 11:00 a.m., the coastal area of the Namyv neighbourhood was flooded. Mostly the beach infrastructure on the riverbank was affected: cafes, gazebos, cabanas, etc.

Popular recreational areas in the area of the Cowboy bar and the Namyv beach complex are flooded.

According to Viktor Dmytruk, head of the Zavodskyy district administration of Mykolayiv, in case of unforeseen situations related to the rise of water, the authorities have prepared the necessary vehicles and soil since yesterday to quickly eliminate water breakthroughs to infrastructure and residential areas if necessary.
