The 68th Separate Ranger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush reported the liberation of Blahodatne village in Donetsk Region.
"The invaders resisted to the last, but could not withstand the onslaught of unrestrained wolverines! In the course of the operation, we managed to capture Russian soldiers. The information received from them will help in the further deoccupation of Ukrainian land," the brigade said on Facebook.
Valeriy Shershen, a spokesman for the Tavriya operational sector, shared the details of the liberation of the village on the news telethon.
"It is on the border between Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions. It is with great responsibility that I am authorised to announce the liberation of Blahodatne village. It is below Velyka Novosilka. It was done by the soldiers of the 68th Separate Ranger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush," he said.
The operation was carried out in cooperation with other units. The deputy commander of the brigade took part in the very first assault group, which aimed to take over the village club. In parallel, there were battles for the school. The Russians had well-designed firing points there.
"The invaders resisted to the last. Our soldiers used some ingenuity, made a hole in the wall of the club with a grenade launcher, got inside through it and then started mopping up. They surrounded several enemies, offered to surrender, but they refused. The school was liberated at the same time," he said.
Six Russian servicemen were captured during the operation.
Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar noted that Ukrainian troops had deoccupied Blahodatne and Makarivka in the Bakhmut sector. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have also advanced 250 metres in the area of the Berkhovo reservoir and up to 1.5 km in the south.
"In the offensive areas: in the Bakhmut sector, our troops continue to conduct assault operations. There is a success in the area of Berkhivka reservoir. We have advanced 250 metres. In the south, there are advances in two directions from 300 to 1,500 metres. The settlements of Blahodatne and Makarivka have been deoccupied," Malyar said on Telegram.
"In the areas where our troops are on the defensive: not a single position has been lost," she stressed.
