The 35th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhaylo Ostrohradskyy has liberated Storozhove. The Ukrainian flag is flying over the village again, Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar has said on Telegram and the Joint Press Centre of the Tavriya Defence Forces on Facebook.
"The national flag is flying over Storozhove again, and it will be the same with every settlement until we liberate all Ukrainian land. Thank you, the 35th Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyy Separate Marine Brigade," Malyar said.
Marine Doc, who took part in the liberation of the settlement, said the operation began around 5 a.m.
"We disembarked from armoured vehicles and started the assault. At first, the enemy put up resistance, trying to overwhelm us with their artillery. We managed to turn the tide, take the initiative into our own hands, and liberate the village house by house," he said.
The defenders killed about 50 occupiers and captured four.
The Ukrainian military added that the Russians abandoned their ammunition while fleeing.
Storozhove is located in Volnovakha District of Donetsk Region. Yesterday, the Ministry of Defence confirmed the liberation of Blahodatne and Makarivka. Soldiers of the 7th Separate Battalion of also announced the liberation of Neskuchne in Donetsk Region.
