The Prosecutor-General's Office of Ukraine has launched an investigation into the involvement of the Belarusian Red Cross in the deportation of Ukrainian children from the Russian-occupied territories, Ukraine's Prosecutor-General Andriy Kostin said on Twitter.
"The involvement of the Belarusian Red Cross in the forced deportation of Ukrainian children from the Russian-occupied territories to Belarus is complicity in the commission of an international crime. This organisation grossly violates the norms of the Geneva Conventions, as well as the fundamental principles of the Red Cross Movement," he said.
Kostin hopes that the International Committee of the Red Cross will "consider this breach of integrity and take appropriate action".
Earlier, the International Red Cross said it was not aware of the participation of the Secretary General of the Belarusian Red Cross, Dzmitry Shawtsow (Dmitry Shevtsov), in the deportation of Ukrainian children.
