Ukraine is 60% ready for the heating season. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this during the meeting of the Congress of local and regional authorities, Ukrinform reports.
The head of the government announced that since May, a winter preparation headquarters has been working in Ukraine. So far, four nuclear power units, nine power units of thermal power plants, and six units at hydro power plants have already been repaired.
By the beginning of the heating season, the Ministry of Energy should return 1.7 GW of capacity to the power system, Shmyhal added.
"We are accumulating energy resources. In storage there are 11.7bn cu.m. of gas, which is 80% of the planned. We have 1.5m tonnes of coal in warehouses out of the planned 1.8m tonnes," he said.
According to him, since the beginning of the year, 14,500 km of overhead lines have been repaired in Ukraine, more than 60% of damaged thermal power plants, CHP plants, and boiler houses have been restored.
The Prime Minister noted that 50mn hryvnas are allocated to the purchasing of utility equipment for 12 regions, and funds from international partners are being raised.
As of last week, 80% of the required amount of gas was already pumped into Ukrainian underground gas storages.
