Russia attacked Ukraine with 37 Shahed attack drones in the early hours of 2 July, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address.
"Some of them were shot down. But only part of them. Fortunately, people were not injured. There were hits in the southern areas - Odesa region, our ports. We are doing our best with our partners to increase the supply of air defence systems," he noted.
According to Zelenskyy, it is very important for the world "not to get used to this Russian terror".
"Every hit is a common problem. Not only for Ukraine, but also for all those in the world whose stability Russia is trying to destroy by attacking our ports and infrastructure," he added. "Now, for the Russian state, this is a battle not only against our freedom, not only against our state. Moscow is fighting a battle for a global catastrophe: these lunatics need the world food market to collapse - they need price crises, supply disruptions. Someone in Moscow thinks they can make money on this... Someone in Moscow hopes they will be able to bargain for something... These are very, very dangerous hopes," Zelenskyy said.
Last night, Russia launched Shahed-136/131 at Ukraine from three directions - Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian territory), Chauda (Crimea). Ukraine's air defence forces shot down 23 drones, most of them in Kyiv and Odesa regions.
Port infrastructure used for the export of Ukrainian grain came under fire. Russians attacked southern Odesa Region with Shahed drones. As a result of the attack, fires broke out at port and industrial infrastructure facilities and an elevator was damaged.
