On 1 August, the Pechersk Court of Kyiv granted the request of the investigator of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the former MP Vadym Rabinovych from the Opposition Platform-For Life party (OPFL), reported by the press service of the SBI.

Previously, on 26 July Rabinovych was suspected of treason (Part 1, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). A corresponding request for international legal assistance was directed to Israel.

The SBI noted that the deputy spread anti-Ukrainian propaganda among the population and the political leadership of the EU countries.

"In his numerous speeches and interviews, he used manipulative statements that harmed the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability, state, economic and informational security of Ukraine. His propaganda activities helped the leadership of Russia achieve its military and political goals and provided the Russian Federation with ideological assistance in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine," the message states.

The sanction of the article provides up to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. Procedural management is carried out by the Prosecutor General's Office.

Rabinovych became the third MP from the former OPFL to be suspected of treason. The first was incumbent MP Oleksandr Ponomaryov, who allowed his enterprises in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region to work for Russians. The second is ex-MP Muraev, who was involved in subversive activities.
