This morning, the Ukrainian Defence Forces shot down a Russian Ka-52 helicopter in Donetsk Region, Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleschuk has said on Telegram.
"One less ruscist Ka-52 this morning in the Bakhmut direction! Thanks to the Air Force's air defence unit for the successful combat work," he wrote.
The Ka-52 helicopter is designed for reconnaissance, targeting and coordination of a group of combat helicopters. It can engage armoured and unarmoured vehicles, manpower and air targets on the battlefield.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Armed Forces have destroyed 314 Russian helicopters and 315 aircraft.
