US to start flight training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16s in October - Pentagon

The United States will begin flight training for Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets in October. This was stated by Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder.

The training will begin after the pilots complete their English language training next month.

Ryder added that the flight training will take place at Morris Air National Guard Base in Tucson, Arizona.

Several pilots and dozens of aircraft maintenance crews will be trained.

Some of Ukrainian pilots were trained in the United States before President Joe Biden decided in May this year to allow European countries with American-made F-16s to train Ukrainians. In the winter of 2022, the US Air Force hosted two Ukrainian pilots who had flown Soviet-era aircraft to see how they would operate the F-16.

Last Sunday, Denmark and the Netherlands promised to provide Ukraine with F-16s. Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Støre said on Thursday that his country would also provide Ukraine with F-16s
