President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had nothing to do with the crash of the plane carrying the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeniy Prigozhin.
The president said this during a joint press conference with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Souza.
"When Ukraine spoke and appealed to the countries of the world about the aircraft, we did not mean it, I will tell you frankly. We meant something different, and we wanted support, although this will probably help in some way as well. First of all, we have nothing to do with this situation, that's for sure. I think everyone is aware of who is involved," the head of state said.
Last night, an Embraer 600 business jet with tail number RA-02795 crashed in Russia. The plane probably belonged to the leader of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeniy Prigozhin.
A number of Russian media, citing Rosaviation, claim that Prigozhin was on the list of passengers on board. It is also possible that Dmitry Utkin with the call sign "Wagner" was also on board.
Later, Rosaviation confirmed that Prigozhin and Utkin were on board. Besides them, there were five other passengers and three crew members.
