DIU: Saboteurs blow up two planes, helicopter in Moscow Region

Saboteurs detonated two planes and a helicopter in the Moscow Region. This occurred on 18 September at the Chkalovskyy Airport, as reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate (DIU) of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

The planes and helicopter sustained significant damage. The DIU added that the incident caused quite a panic in high military circles, as government aircraft, so-called "doomsday planes" designed for the evacuation of top leadership, and reconnaissance aircraft are based at the airport.

"Unknown individuals managed to plant explosives at the heavily guarded airport, and they detonated the AN-148 and IL-20 planes (both belonging to the 354th Special Purpose Aviation Regiment), as well as the MI-28N helicopter, which had been actively used to intercept drones over the Moscow Region," the intelligence agency noted.

According to their assessment, the damage to the planes may prevent their quick restoration. The tail section of the helicopter was damaged by the explosion. Another AN-148 parked nearby sustained minor damage.

The Russians are trying to locate these saboteurs and have restricted the dissemination of information about the incident in local media.

In July, the DIU reported details of the killing of an unknown individual, a former captain of a submarine armed with "Calibers." The former commander of the submarine "Krasnodar," Rzhytskyy, was shot seven times in Krasnodar while jogging in the 30th Victory Park. Ukrainian intelligence provided these details, emphasising that "due to heavy rain in the park, it was deserted, so there are no witnesses who could report details or identify the attacker.”
