Involvement of the Belarusian army in a ground operation in the war against Ukraine is a strategic objective of the Kremlin, Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence, has told Radio NV.

"There is a strategic task of the Kremlin, which is to involve the Belarusian army in a full-fledged ground operation in the war against Ukraine on the side of the Russian Federation. And it has failed to do so during the entire period of the full-scale invasion. But, nevertheless, the Russian special services will not give up their attempts," Yusov said.

He also recalled that this is not the first attempt of provocation by Russian terrorists to discredit Ukraine and drag Belarus into the war.

"Minsk understands who is really behind the above-mentioned attempts and realises that war is not in its interests. However, Russia will continue to try to 'provoke' the country," Yusov warned.

He noted that Russia knows all critical infrastructure facilities in Belarus, as well as all its strengths and weaknesses, its special services and army, like the back of its hand.

"This information has been and will be used against both Ukraine and Belarus. There are many such scenarios. From simulated sabotage raids, the use of drones on energy sector infrastructure, and many other things. In this context, the Russians should not be underestimated. They have a wealth of experience: the bombing of Voronezh, the bombing of their own houses with their own civilians, and many other scenarios," Yusov explained.

As a reminder, the National Resistance Centre reported that the FSB of Russia and the KGB of Belarus were preparing a false flag operation against an oil depot in Brest Region.
