Poland accounts for 85% of Russian fakes targeting Ukrainian refugees, Svitlana Slipchenko, head of VoxCheck, has told the international conference "Rebuilding Ukraine: about people and for people", Media Centre Ukraine - Ukrinform reports.
According to her, the fakes seek to make Ukrainians believe that the host countries will not be able to help them, and that their living conditions will be almost at the level of a concentration camp. Ukrainians are being scared by various forms of exploitation and the fact that their children may be taken away from them to be handed over to European families.
The researcher added that Russia deliberately uses gender disinformation. Propagandists attack women, who make up the majority of forced migrants, with emotional messages.
Last month, the European Union officially extended temporary protection for refugees from Ukraine until 4 March 2025.
