On Saturday morning, explosions were heard in Kyiv and the region, the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitaliy Klitschko, has said.
"Strong explosions were heard on the left bank of the capital," he said.
According to preliminary reports, the air defence were targeting a ballistic missile.
Air defence forces were also operating in Kyiv Region, the regional military administration said.
According to the latest reports, air defence forces were activated on the left bank of the Dnipro River, Klitschko said.
There have been no rescue calls in the capital so far.
"There were several calls for medics, but no injuries were found. People called when they heard the strong explosions," the mayor added.
