Today, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a conversation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and expressed gratitude for her personal efforts and Italy's strong steps to support Ukraine, the press service of the Ukrainian president has reported.

"Italy is demonstrating strong leadership, and I look forward to the Italian presidency of the G7 in 2024 to achieve new important results," Zelenskyy said.

He noted that the parties had coordinated joint efforts and agreed to start working on bilateral security guarantees in the follow-up to the G7 Vilnius Declaration.

Zelenskyy and Meloni also discussed defence cooperation and the need to accelerate the adoption of the 12th package of EU sanctions against Russia.

Zelenskyy thanked Italy for supporting the peace formula and invited Prime Minister Meloni to take part in the second Grain from Ukraine summit.
