It is unclear whether the Alliance will defend Ukraine if it is only a partial member.

Progress with security guarantees from international partners is not as great as Ukraine would like it to be. While NATO is the strongest option, Ukraine has not been invited there yet, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a press conference.

He described the signals about Ukraine's partial accession as nonsense, and said that Kyiv had never received any such offer from any of its partners.

"It is very difficult to imagine how this could be done," he added.

The president stressed that Putin clearly declares the unchanging goals of the war against Ukraine. This is a signal that he does not want peace.

"Let's imagine what will happen if part of Ukraine is in NATO. I think it is a high risk for us, because I am sure that if part of Ukraine is in NATO... You have heard the signals about Finland. It means that he is going and there will be a war with NATO. And here the question will be whether NATO countries will join ranks to fight for a part of Ukrainian territory that does not have a certain status in NATO," he said.
