On Monday, the Cabinet of Ministers was supposed to submit a draft law to the Verkhovna Rada to improve the conduct of mobilisation in Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence, Davyd Arakhamiya.

"Today, the government should submit a draft law on mobilisation, which it is working on at the request of the military. I hope that my colleagues from the Cabinet of Ministers will soon finish their part of the work. Because the absence of this draft law creates uncertainty and a large number of fakes about checkpoints, 'Diia', etc.", he wrote on Telegram.

Arakhamiya stressed that the algorithm of work has not changed: the military command has requested the mobilisation of 500,000 soldiers, and the government is developing rules.

"The President clearly stated that he requires a comprehensive approach to service in the Armed Forces. Simply recruiting new people without solving the problems of those who are currently serving is not an option. The Parliament is waiting for a ready-made document that can be discussed at the Committee. The military needs to have their problems solved. Society wants to hear answers to all sensitive questions. So we have to keep working, regardless of the calendar," he added.

  • The draft law on mobilisation proposes to abolish conscription and discharge conscripts, sending them to the mobilisation resource from the age of 25. It also proposes to oblige all citizens, regardless of gender, aged 18 to 60, to register for military service. Women are proposed to be mobilised only at their request.
  • The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, said that mobilisation should be returned to its previous level. He added that now it is a problem for those fighting on the front line, who need to be replaced. When asked about the impact of the dismissal of regional military commissars on the effectiveness of mobilisation, Zaluzhnyy said that "they were professionals, they knew how to do it, and now they are gone".
