A representative of the Ukrainian military intelligence, Andriy Yusov, has confirmed that Russia wants to end the war against Ukraine as soon as possible, but on its own terms.

He said this on the national news telethon, Liga.net reports.

Yusov pointed out that under international law, Russia is a criminal state and must be punished.

"Of course, they would like to end the invasion as soon as possible. Another thing is on what terms. Ukraine, of course, is interested in the end of this genocidal war, but with the restoration of our territorial integrity and punishment of the criminals," he said.

Yusov also noted that articles in Western publications show that they do not forget about Ukraine.

"We need to monitor, analyse and explain the possible intentions behind these publications. We are now seeing a number of articles on Ukraine on the front pages of leading publications. These are often controversial articles, and we must convey our own position," he said.

Earlier, The New York Times wrote that Putin has been "signalling" through intermediaries about his alleged readiness for a ceasefire and a freeze in hostilities since at least September 2023. The journalists cited two unnamed former senior officials close to the Kremlin, as well as US and international officials.
