Three Ukrainian prisoners of war who were shot dead by Russian occupiers in Zaporizhzhya Region served in the 82nd separate air assault brigade. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"This footage is yet another proof of a war crime by the Russian armed forces.
Unidentified persons from the Russian Armed Forces or other military formations of the aggressor state, acting intentionally, in violation of the laws and customs of war, being on the line of contact in one of the districts of Zaporizhzhya Region, in violation of Article 3 of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War of 12 August 1949, as well as other norms of international humanitarian law, deliberately killed people protected in armed conflict. Namely, three servicemen of the 82nd separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who were discharged from service as a result of being captured (hors de combat) after sustaining injuries and contusions of varying severity," the statement said.
This criminal offence was registered in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations, and the case file will be transferred to the International Criminal Court.
"Sooner or later, war criminals from the Russian Federation will be held accountable for their atrocities before the International Criminal Tribunal. The truth is on our side. We will not be broken! We will take revenge for every Ukrainian, for every piece of land where terrorist Russia has brought grief. The enemy will be punished!" the General Staff stressed.
