German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has spoken out against supplying Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles requested by Kyiv.

Scholz cited the risk of Germany's involvement in a war.

"Germany is Ukraine's largest military supporter in Europe. It stays that way. But one thing is clear: we will not become a warring party - either directly or indirectly. These two principles guide all my decisions. #Taurus," he tweeted.

Earlier, the chairman of the Munich Security Conference, Christoph Heusgen, expressed hope that Germany would be able to provide Ukraine with Taurus missiles. He stressed that he would consider the provision of Taurus missiles "an important addition to the arsenal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces".
