A record number of Russian drones have been spotted on the frontline, Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, has told the news telethon.

"There is a record number of drones on the frontline, a lot of them in the southern direction. There are actually UAVs of various types hovering along the Dnipro River - Supercam, Zala, Orlan. The same is true in Kharkiv Region and, in general, along the entire contact line," said Ihnat.

He added that Russians are intensifying aerial reconnaissance because they "want to see more, obviously, to plan their military actions".

Ihnat noted that for three days in a row, Russia has not been flying A-50 aircraft after one was recently shot down by the Ukrainian military.

"It's been three days now. They have been flying it every day accompanied by an Il-22," the Air Force spokesman said, adding that drones do not replace downed aircraft of this type, as each type of equipment has its own functions and data collection features.
