Macron's remarks reflect "a deep understanding of the threat to European security", the ambassador said. "If they really believe that we are defending not only ourselves, but that we are defending Europe and European values, the stability of the European continent, then we must act," he said.
Omelchenko noted that the idea of helping Ukraine with troops had been present in European countries for some time.
"You know that there were such signals from the UK. I can testify that these thoughts are in the European air. And the fact that Macron says that the dynamics of events cannot exclude any action is the beginning of the process," he said.
Ukraine's Ambassador to France also recalled the French president's statements at the summit in Paris on 26 February about some countries that had previously ruled out supplying Kyiv first with shells, then tanks, then long-range weapons and artillery.
