Warsaw is negotiating with Kyiv on a temporary ban on the movement of goods across the border, Polish Radio RMF has reported, citing Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"We discussed with representatives of the Ukrainian side the possibility of temporarily closing the border and suspending the exchange of goods," Tusk said.

He noted that this temporary measure "would be painful for both sides".

These topics are expected to be discussed at Tusk's meeting with protesting farmers, which is scheduled for Thursday. Commenting on the prospects of the meeting, Tusk said: "I am not the prime minister for Poland to leave the EU or to block the border with Ukraine."

"I am ready for firm decisions when it comes to the border with Ukraine, but with a prior agreement with Kyiv, so that there is no unnecessary tension. We have to find a long-term solution," he stressed.

According to Tusk, it may be worth talking about additional payments for grain, which will allow Polish products to be sold as soon as possible. He also noted that in general, Poland could make Polish grain more attractive in terms of price compared to Ukrainian grain.

Earlier, Tusk said that Poland could impose an embargo on other groups of Ukrainian products in the future. According to the Prime Minister, Ukrainian products pose a serious threat to the Polish economy.
