French President Emmanuel Macron did not tell the Ukrainian president about the possibility of sending foreign troops to Ukrainian territory. Instead, he promised to discuss with his colleagues new initiatives to strengthen Ukraine on the battlefield and then share them with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
At a briefing after the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit in Albania, the Ukrainian president said that he and Macron had a "very good meeting" in Paris with many initiatives, including an artillery coalition. Ukraine needs to survive, and that means having very concrete solutions.
Zelenskyy said he could not share how much artillery and 155-mm ammunition had been agreed upon.
"Everything that we have decided, everything where there are contracts for assistance - everything must be delivered on time. This is the main fundamental initiative. Give it to us on time," he said.
Zelenskyy added that Macron had many initiatives to strengthen Ukraine on the battlefield, but he had not heard from him personally about the initiative to send Western troops to Ukraine.
"He said he would talk about some new ideas on how to strengthen Ukraine. And he said he would share the information with me when he comes to Ukraine. I think he has already officially said in the media that he will be here in mid-March," the president said.
Zelenskyy added that it is very important to be strong now, and there is no alternative to this - everyone is dealing with the killer Vladimir Putin. The Ukrainian president compared the Russian president to Adolf Hitler.
"God forbid that you should see this. But all of us must prepare to be strong. This is not about preparing for peace or war, but about being ready for the next years of Putin," Zelenskyy said.
He added that the stronger Ukraine is, the weaker Putin will be.
"This is the answer to any initiative. If any initiative in the world strengthens Ukraine, it is good for the whole world," the Ukrainian president said.
