Ukrainians have the most negative attitudes towards Russia (95%), Belarus (87%), Iran (82%), China (72.5%), Hungary (59%), and India (40%), according to the findings of a survey conducted by the Razumkov Centre.

A negative attitude towards Russia is expressed by the vast majority of residents of all regions of Ukraine - from 91% of residents in the east to 98.5% of residents in the west. Among those who speak mostly Ukrainian at home, 97% have a negative attitude towards Russia, and among those who speak Russian - 92.5%.

Respondents most often express a positive attitude towards Lithuania (91%), Latvia (90.5%), the United Kingdom (90%), Germany (89%), Estonia (89%), Canada (88%), and the United States (87%), France (86%), Czech Republic (86%), Poland (86%), the Netherlands (83%), Moldova (81%), Japan (74%), Georgia (72%), Israel (65%), Romania (64%), Azerbaijan (61%), Slovakia (56%), and Turkey (55.5%).

Regarding the attitude of Ukrainians towards foreign politicians, the majority of citizens express a positive attitude towards US President Joe Biden (78%), President of Poland Andrzej Duda (76%), President of France Emmanuel Macron (62%), President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen (60%), UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak (56%), Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz (55%), and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau (50%).

Negative attitudes towards Russian President Vladimir Putin (96%), self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alyaksandr Lukashenka (92%), Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban (69%), and Chinese leader Xi Jinping (64%) prevail.

Also, the share of those who have a negative attitude towards Turkish President Recep Erdogan (42%) exceeds the share of those who have a positive attitude (38%). The same applies to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (29.5% and 14%).

The survey was conducted from 19 to 25 January 2024 using the face-to-face method. Sociologists spoke to 2,000 respondents aged 18 and over. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.

According to KIIS, Ukrainians consider Poles to be "closer" than their Russian-speaking fellow citizens. The lowest level of ethnic prejudice in Ukraine was recorded against Ukrainians and Poles, while Ukrainians have the worst attitude towards Russians and Belarusians living in their own countries.
