The United States of America will not defend Ukrainian skies from Russian missiles and drones, as it did with Israel during the massive Iranian attack.

John Kirby, the National Security Council's strategic communications coordinator, said this during a briefing at the White House.

When asked by a member of the press whether the US is ready to shoot down drones over Ukraine in the same way it did in the Middle East, Joe Biden's adviser said he expected this discussion. However, "we're talking about different countries, different airspace, different threats."

According to Kirby, the US president made it clear from the very beginning of the "conflict" that the United States would not take part in hostilities in Ukraine. The White House believes that the best solution is to provide weapons and air defence equipment to the Ukrainian military - but the administration cannot do this now because "there is no additional funding for national security".

Due to the risk of "escalation", the UK also refused to shoot down drones over Ukraine
