Deputy Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk said during a telethon that the government is discussing the possibility of raising electricity tariffs in Ukraine, RBC-Ukraine reports.
"We are discussing, among other things, an increase in tariffs. We are analysing all financial resources available to us, including the assistance provided by our partners, which is declared by them and which will be provided in the near future. We are analysing the capabilities of our energy companies, including discussing the possibility of raising the tariff," said Hrynchuk.
The Deputy Minister stressed that the decision to raise electricity tariffs has not yet been made. But she does not rule out that the government may have to raise the tariff to have the resources to prepare for the next heating season.
"Unfortunately, with the damage that has been done, we are expecting a significant deficit during the next heating season. In this case, there may be power cuts for household consumers. We are trying to find and implement solutions that will mitigate these consequences in winter," Hrynchuk added.
