Russian troops have launched a missile attack on Zaporizhzhya International Airport, Interfax-Ukraine reports this with reference to MP Musa Mahomedov.

"Another beautiful airport has been destroyed, this time in Zaporizhzhya. Burn in hell. There is definitely a separate personal hell for those who destroy our airports, the gates of freedom," Mahomedov wrote on Telegram and posted a photo of the damaged terminal.

On Sunday, an air alert was launched in Zaporizhzhya for several times. The head of the regional administration, Ivan Fedorov, warned residents about the threat of attacks by X-59 air guided missiles.

  • Construction of the new terminal at Zaporizhzhya Airport was completed in May 2020. It was built at the expense of the city budget. In October 2020, the new terminal began accepting domestic flights.
  • Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Zaporizhzhya airport, like other airports in Ukraine, has been closed.
